I too grew up dreaming of knives so sharp they could cut a shoe in half, or a juicer which gave an 80 year old man the power to lift cars over his head. Best of all half of the hosts were, and still are, British (sounding at least) because apparently someone with a British accent is smarter and classier than we poor North Americans.
I was rather shocked by this new commercial, it's innuendo so subtle I was surprised when by the end of the commercial they didn't have someone holding up a sign saying, "It's for sex!" But then, why beat around the bush (pun absolutely intended) :D

there is something weirdly entertaining about infomercials. never bought a single thing from one of them, just watch them for their strange Kitsch value. with the right company and a joint it can give you something to do in the early hours and it gives most channels something to put on past midnight.

i don't know about over in the states but in England the infomercials are giving way to a new kind of trash TV. gambling shows are everywhere now. whether it's a casino style or a quiz, it's usually one or two presenters doing an all nighter and people phone in to anwser questions or whatever (getting a huge phone bill in the process). as these shows are live they are vulnerable to pranks such as this video where some guy tells the presenter to suck his dick
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyI0CA2hp9Y
seriously though, i'm not sure which is funnier. him saying something rude to her on live television or the fact that it must have cost him about 15pounds (30 odd dollars) getting through to the studio. he sounds a bit of a perv as well XD

Man, I vaguely remember that dating show, STUDS. Also like the Family Matters knock-off whenever that episode comes on. Ron Popeil needs something new instead trying to push his kitchen utensils onto people or having rotating food in a box. Also, Trojan commercials are probably the lamest late night tv spots that you can ever find.

I agree with you about the horrible infomercials these days; even though there are a few "gems" floating around, most of the night ones are Girls Gone Wild ads or something similar.

But yeah, the redhead's overacting is hilarious. Her superfluous facial expressions and eye rolling were great. In fact, if I couldn't clearly see her hands on the desk, I would have thought that she was "using" the product mentioned.
